Studio 531 Architects is currently engaged by the Capital Regional District to create an addition to the SEPARC recreation facility in Sooke BC. The project creates an appx. 5000 SF addition that will include a Fitness Gym, Movement Studio and Multi purpose space.
The building is constructed using mass-timber panels, that will be exposed throughout the space creating a warm and inviting environment for fitness. A continuous skylight brings daylight into the existing building, and forms a strong visual bridge between old and new. The addition is located adjacent to the main entry and will create a new dynamic face to the building, with views into the fitness centre. The design also features a new entrance canopy and plaza design focused on creating a welcoming, pedestrian friendly space for all users. Scheduled completion is December 2019.
